Festival of San Fermin

Hundreds of thousands of revelers drink and wait for high noon when the chant for San Fermin to open the weeklong festivities that include round-the-clock partying and drinking and dance and then bull runs and bull fights. The first running-with-the-bulls is July 7 morning. The festival, locally known as Sanfermines, is held annually from 06 to 14 July in commemoration of the city’s patron saint. Hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world attend the fiesta. Many of them physically participating in the highlight event – the running of the bulls, or encierro – where they attempt to outrun the bulls along a 825 metre route through the narrow streets of the old city.
